Making Animatics

Updated: Jan 27, 2022

I've been applying to a lot of places, recently.

The struggle with applying to an art job when you're such a spontaneous artist like I am, is that it's hard to apply to just ONE job. There are so many things I can do, so there are so many jobs I can apply to.

Which sounds like a good thing, but sometimes it's actually the opposite. What I experience, is that I don't have ENOUGH of each thing. Anyone looking at my website or social media can see I do a lot, but not exactly a lot of what THEY are looking for.

Recently I've been working on animatics... I really want to work for an animation studio. I've had lots of experience in character design, backgrounds, animation and voice acting... but it felt like there wasn't enough!

One of my old teachers from college told me "You will always have enough if you make the time. And you always have time."

Animatics are nice because they don't need to be clean or necessarily FINISHED, but they're just enough for anyone to see that I understand composition, timing, expression, etc! I'm planning to do a lot more of these featuring my characters, or some storytimes, or even music videos to fill up my portfolio :)
